What is Abdominal Therapy Massage?

It is a non-invasive deep massage working the viscera, deep lymphatics and fascia of the abdomen, lower back, sacrum and hips. It supports the health of pelvic ligaments and organs and often results in improved digestive, circulatory, menstrual and reproductive health.

Abdominal Therapy supports our bodies natural ability to heal by improving circulation, nerve function, lymphatic drainage and energy flow.

It improves balance within the body and creates homeostasis.

Abdominal therapy accesses healing for the whole being.

Abdominal Therapy was developed by Dr. Rosita Arvigo. It is a profoundly effective combination of ancient healing techniques, innate wisdom and modern science.

She developed these techniques from her studies in Naprapathy, Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Massage, Herbalism and Spiritual Healing over a 30 year period.

What to expect at your first treatment?

It begins with a comprehensive exploration of your personal health story.

The full in-person Abdominal Therapy treatment involves an external massage of your entire abdomen, back, hips, and sacrum.

Massaging these areas systematically and thoroughly optimizes the circulation of all the systems in your body.

We call this NAVEL: Nerve, Arterial and Venous blood, Energy, and Lymph.

Sessions always include massage to your abdomen, back, hips and sacrum. This improves nerve flow to abdominal and pelvic organs, supporting proper uterine placement, and aligns your pelvis for your comfort and freedom of movement and aids digestive function.

Self-massage (YAM): At the end of our first consultation and treatment I will teach you how to perform Your Abdominal Massage (YAM) at home to support your health goals and send you home with written instructions.

Dr. Rosita Arvigo's teachings are founded upon many years and multiple healer’s knowledge, cultures and lands, she recognizes these most influential Belizean teachers - Don Elijio Panti, Miss Hortense Robinson, Miss Juana Xix and Mexican Midwife Dona Maria Torres.

Early in her professional practice, Dr. Rosita Arvigo recognized the need for clients to continue their healing with their own hands, in their own time, in their own homes. With this in mind, she developed her unique personal massage technique to encourage and empower her clients to take charge of their healing. It’s not unusual for clients to report – even years later – that YAM has become an integral part of their daily lives.

We recommend that you do this 10-minute massage every day between professional sessions. Daily massage improves and accelerates results.

Supportive Modalities: I may suggest castor oil packs, herbal formulas, pelvic steams (bajas) and variations on the traditional belly-wrap called a faja.

I will instruct you specifically on any we decide to use.

Your first visit will be 2 hours long and any subsequent appointments will be an hour and a half.

Follow-up appointments are scheduled every 2-4 weeks. Plan on at least three of these sessions for best results.

Abdominal Therapy’s unbroken ancient lineage

Abdominal Therapy is based upon the teachings of Dr. Rosita Arvigo, who has dedicated over 40 years learning from, and working with her local community in Belize near the boarder of Guatemala. For 13 years she worked as an apprentice for Shaman and Bush Doctor Don Elijio Panti, and other traditional healers including midwifes’ Miss Hortence Robinson, and Miss Juana Shish, learning ancient Maya healing wisdom. Dr. Rosita Arvigo has enriched this knowledge with her own understanding as an Herbalist and Napropath (similar to an Osteopath), developing a comprehensive healing system for everyone worldwide.

Dr. Rosita Arvigo remains rooted and passionate about caring and supporting her community, founding the Ix Chel Tropical Research Foundation sponsoring school programs and summer camps for Belizean children to learn the ways of their ancestors. As recognition and gratitude for the knowledge now held by Abdominal Therapy practitioners around the world, a tithe is paid to the Ix Chel Tropical Research Foundation by all those who come to learn Abdominal Therapy.

I am delighted to be the First member of the Abdominal Therapy Collective to offer this treatment here in Ireland.
